Zack Exley is a political and technology consultant who works with organizations, companies and movements to increase response, build community and raise money.
Exley is considered a pioneer and expert in online fundraising and organizing. He previously served as the Chief Community Officer and Chief Revenue Officer at the Wikimedia Foundation, where he built a fundraising program that allowed the organization to grow from 20 to 200 employees.
Exley is cited as helped bring U.S. politics online as MoveOn.org’s first organizing director, as advisor to the Howard Dean campaign, and director of online communications, organizing John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. He was the co-founder of the New Organizing Institute, a technology and strategy training center for social justice organizations.
Exley has traveled the world speaking about online fundraising, grassroots organizing, and politics. He recently wrote a book based on his experiences titled “Rules for Revolutionaries: How Big Organizing Can Change Everything.”
